Job Description

The role is open for candidates with varied backgrounds - we care that you are passionate about product, data, and data engineering, and that you have a strong focus on execution, delivery and customer impact.

You will join the Data Foundation team, a platform team focusing on creating the tools to support our Data Scientists, Product Analysts and other data consumers. The team focuses on getting access to data and services that enable teams’ analytical and ML needs. The team is composed of Data Engineers and is responsible for the Data and ML platform, batch and streaming pipelines, and data architecture. The team works closely not only with teams within Marktplaats (our Dutch market), but with many other teams across Adevinta (our global organization). 

As Product Manager for the Data Foundation team you are responsible for the data and ML solutions that empower our teams to use and develop data products. You know how to discover and tackle our organization’s data needs and you are able to articulate this vision concisely. You will inspire decision makers as well as your team to deliver against the goals of the team.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with the Data Engineering Manager to create and execute on the product strategy, product roadmap, and success measurement for our data platform and capabilities
  • Regularly align with the Head of Data to understand relative priorities and facilitate decision-making around implementation of data initiatives
  • Manage and prioritise the product backlog, product development of data initiatives, define lifecycle management of data products, and maximise value delivered to our internal data consumers
  • Define and improve processes that enable collaboration in the team, guide prioritisation, identify dependencies, and align stories 
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and teams in Marktplaats and Adevinta in the planning, discovery, and delivery phases, ensuring that the developed products and services meet our user and business needs
  • Act as subject matter expert on the team's platform, technologies and services to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Data, Product, and Tech organisations. 
  • Strive for constant Product and Data innovation, ensure a best in class product quality and constantly challenge the status-quo for continuous improvements

Qualifications

What you will need

  • Experience in Product management and/or Engineering strategy roles 
  • Significant experience with stakeholder management, ideally in an international organisation 
  • Experience working with cloud technologies, data platforms, data products, and Data Engineers/Scientists/Analysts
  • Knowledge of tools and services that enable data consumers to create data products (DBT, IaaS Templating, Feature Stores, Experimentation Platforms, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data and/or development tools (e.g. SQL, R, Python, Scala, Java, Kotlin, etc.)
  • Experience managing agile rituals for a team of engineers.
  • Experience with modern data architectures (DataMesh, Lakehouse), Data Warehousing frameworks, DataOps/Devops, CI/CD  and/or MLOps is a plus
  • Excellent communication in English (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. You make complex topics easily understandable.
